NYK announced that the freight rates on the Asia – Europe trade routes as well as the Asia – West Mediterranean trade route continue to be commercially unviable. To ensure that they continue to offer their customers the high quality liner service expected of NYK, they are forced to implement stage 2 of their SRR. As a result, they plan to increase the rates from 1st July 2009. The rate increases are as follows:- For westbound cargo from Asia to North Europe: US$ 400 per TEU For eastbound cargo from North Europe, the Mediterranean and Black Sea to Asia: US$ 150 per TEU For westbound cargo from Asia to the West Mediterranean: US$ 250 per TEU
